Problems associated with acne

In most cases acne problems affect the young and acne normally starts at puberty between the ages of twelve and fourteen years when the stimulation of sebaceous glands increases sebum production because of the sex hormone androgen. The other most common issues that causes acne are stress, anxiety, exams, the time before periods, pregnancy, usage of some cosmetics and medication, etc.  Acne affects a person both physically as well as mentally and can affect their confidence.

Youngsters today love to look beautiful and if they have acne then they get anxious about how they look and also fear of people seeing her.  They worry too much about getting rid of acne and can have nightmares, sleepless nights, tension and may experience digestive problems too.  They also tend to feel sad, tired and depressed because of their acne and do not want to go out with friends or socialize.  Due to their anxiety, they tend to eat unhealthy or limit their foods which can lead to malnourishment all due to the emotions caused by acne.  Some get so obsessive that they keep on washing their face, plucking the acne or keep on applying some ointment due to their anxiety and fear.  They also keep on checking in the mirror, making comparison and more often seek reassurance from others. Besides the psychological problems, it also affects a person’s self-esteem and confidence.
